Welcome Friends!

My name is Rebecca Kirshenbaum, and I’m so glad you’ve found me at Willow Pilates!

Pilates and its approach to movement and longevity and spinal health became a central part of my life after a back injury led to chronic pain, limiting not just my workouts, but my entire life. Pilates, always a part of my workout routine, became a crucial part of my recovery from surgery as well as managing the residual chronic pain. In addition to many other forms of low-impact exercise and strength training, Pilates is now key to both my physical and mental health. I’ve seen tremendous gains in my strength and stamina, as well as learning to truly enjoy movement. I completed my certification in Classical Pilates through The Pilates Center in Boulder, CO, where I found the approach to breathing, joy in movement and longevity to be inspiring. I am excited to merge my years of teaching experience with my love of Pilates.

I look forward to working with you!

Instruction tailored to your goals

I’ve worked with kids and adults of all ages sharing my love of learning, books, and writing. Most recently, I taught literacy and writing to elementary students in the Newton Public Schools. I’ve taught second grade through college and especially love matching books with kids— the kind of matches that make them fall in love with reading. In fact, my studio name is inspired by the classic children’s book, The Wind in the Willows. When I’m not teaching reading, writing, or Classical Pilates, I write books for children and hold advanced degrees in Children’s literature and Writing for Children.

And if you’re a dog person, my dog Quimby (named for Ramona!) is very excited to be our studio pup!

I’ve always loved teaching and am very excited to bring my love for both teaching and Pilates together at Willow Pilates!
